For the style of the machines i referred to what i assumed would prevail before the first apocalypse by looking at fashionable styles of the apple corp.

Many different sea creatures where referenced. I wanted to use life that would withstand two apocalypses and the deep sea creature are some of the oldest and more mysterious on the planet.
